Education Department Supports and Expands Family Engagement

The agency allots funding for parental education as well.

The U.S. Department of Education has announced the awarding of $11.4 million in grants to 12 organizations under the “Raising the Bar for Parent Partnership in Our Schools“ program. The initiative seeks to engage parents, family members, caregivers, or advocates through Statewide Family Engagement Centers. The program provides technical assistance and support for state and local agencies that focus on improving student development and academic achievement.

“As a parent, teacher, and former principal, I’ve seen firsthand how strong and productive relationships between educators and families are the foundation of thriving school communities,” said Education Secretary Miguel Cardona. “The importance of parent partnerships in our schools is backed by years of research demonstrating how students benefit academically, socially, and emotionally from robust family engagement. The grants announced by the Biden-Harris Administration today will help schools across the country Raise the Bar for how they engage parents, families, and caregivers, and ultimately, how they drive student success.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Cardona to seek God’s guidance as he leads the Education Department.
  • For department officials as they determine ways to partner with parents on the education of their children.
  • For the leaders of the state and local education agencies to utilize the grants effectively.
